The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia presents three emerging design studios from Switzerland ready to spearhead the next generation of Swiss design. Bureau Brunner from Zürich, a-project studio from Biel and Hannes&Fritz working across Zürich and Stuttgart, each bring their own design language to their projects – whilst sharing a forward thinking approach to the designer’s role within contemporary and future societies.
The three selected design studio were chosen by Pro Helvetia Design’s Jury for their unique mix of commercial potential alongside a focus on the contemporary issues that make the design profession today both challenging and exciting. Whilst promoting sustainable practices and environmental considerations in all of their projects, the three studios develop their work through a human-centric approach to function and context – creating objects and spaces that are both equitable and inclusive.
Having each studied in Switzerland prior to establishing their own design studios – the work of Bureau Brunner, a-project studio and Hannes&Fritz each demonstrate a connection to the legacy of Swiss design, whilst having a truly universal outlook to their practice. The inclusive qualities connected to Swiss design are mixed with sustainability and environmental considerations, with all designers focused on creating work that contributes to a circular economy.
